Cory Mellody is responsible for providing comprehensive analysis for the team’s acquisition and asset management efforts. His responsibilities are to support executive management on acquisitions and developments by providing detailed pro-forma financial models, financial reporting and planning, lease analysis, and asset value preservation.
Prior to joining DIG, Mr. Mellody worked as a Financial Analyst at Thompson National Properties where he was responsible with supporting Acquisitions and Asset Management. As a part of the acquisition team, Cory helped source new investment opportunities in Retail, Office, Multi-Family, and Residential. He also supported the Asset Management team that managed and operated more than 11 million SF of real estate. At Craig Realty Group, Cory supported the Development, Construction, Executive teams with financial planning and analysis. He also played a key role for the development of Outlets at San Clemente, a $300 million Outlet Shopping Center. At SmartStop Self-Storage, Cory’s role was strategic planning and analysis on Strategic Storage Trust, which was later sold to Extra-Space Self Storage for $1.4 billion in October 2015. At SmartStop Asset Management, Cory assisted with the underwriting and due diligence for $1 billion of new acquisitions.
Cory graduated from California State University, Fullerton Mihaylo College of Business and Economics with a Bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship. He still is active with the Center for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Institute mentoring and coaching students through real-life business consulting reports. Cory is also active with CSU Fullerton’s Real Estate & Land Use Institute (RELUI) where he speaks to students on various real estate trends.
Cory likes to live an active lifestyle and is an avid scuba diver, snowboarder, wakeboarder, and hiker where his adventures like to take him to various locales around the world.
